About Karen Murphy

I have lived and worked in Lamorinda since 1983 and have been a top producing agent at Village Associates since I co-founded the company in 2000. I have ushered buyers and sellers through hundreds of successful transactions. My husband Tim and I raised our two grown sons, Brian and Ben, in this community that is home to amazing schools, great weather and access to all the benefits of Bay Area living.

My background is in finance. Prior to real estate I practiced as a CPA with Arthur Andersen & Co. I earned my undergraduate degree at Stanford and an MBA from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business. I served two terms as a member of the Orinda Union School District Board of Trustees; I was on the Board of the Educational Foundation of Orinda, served as co-president of Del Rey and Miramonte Parents' Clubs and I served on the Miramonte Boosters Club board.

About Hillary Murphy

I feel extremely lucky to work in a community that I love. Since joining Village Associates I've helped dozens of clients understand our market and buy and sell fantastic homes and pieces of land. Prior to joining Village, I spent 15 years working in PR and marketing for high-profile technology innovators and Fortune 500 companies in San Francisco and New York. When I took the plunge into real estate, I quickly discovered that the communications and marketing skills I honed in the corporate world have translated into success for my real estate clients.

My husband Brian was raised in Orinda and when it came time to leave San Francisco, it made sense that this is where we would raise our family. But to be honest, I was reluctant to trade city life for "the burbs."  When we made the move, I was impressed by the friendly community and all the wonderful things near us, and the easy access to San Francisco where I commuted for several years.

We now have two small children (ages 6 and 2), a dog and a white picket fence (seriously) and fantastic "village" of friends and neighbors. My current knowledge of living here with young children is valuable young families who move to our area. I studied Economics at UCSB and Oxford University, and I grew up in the heart of Sonoma County's beautiful wine country.
